I leveled up from 46-50 in Russia fishing for giant Sturgeon and monster Wells Cats and caught many of them over 100 pounds (over 45kg). Both set ups can pull in fish much, much heavier than their Max Line Weight.
Carp Rods are for specialised Carp Gear only (Flat Feeders, Spods, etc.). You can use most types of Baits (other than Boillies and Lures) as well as a couple of different types of Feeders. For the larger Bottom Fish, you need Bottom Rods and Carp Rods.
